Nick Speaks (according to EXTRA)

Nick Tells His Side of the Story
December 27, 2005

Nick Lachey is breaking news, telling his side of the story about his breakup from Jessica Simpson. In the new issue of Us Weekly, Nick’s camp reveals that during the marriage, Nick felt ignored by his famous wife.

"He has realized the relationship is over and it’s time to move on," said Us Weekly’s Katrina Szish. "She would never call him to check in. She would always go out with her friends and leave him alone. And if he did come along, she would ignore him all night long."

Still, Nick's friends and insiders reveal that Lachey did not want the split, and that, "Nick was willing to make it work until the end. He told Jessica, ‘I love you, but we have problems. Let’s work on them.’"

"He still thought they could work everything out," Szish added. "So he felt completely sucker punched."

"Extra" has also obtained details on the "Newlyweds" first Christmas apart. Jessica spent the holiday with her family, and Nick was with his in Los Angeles.

Us reports that Nick’s mother flew in from Cincinnati, and that Nick and Jessica did not contact each other. Nick certainly didn’t spend the holiday hiding. In fact, he played celebrity Santa.

New pictures obtained by "Extra" capture Nick and his pal Wilmer Valderrama visiting sick kids at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, just before Christmas. Sources inside the ward reveal it was an emotional day for the kids and their famous visitors.

Now, heading into 2006 alone, Nick is still living in the $3.5 million mansion he shared with Jessica on TV. He’s also got a new roommate: Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s estranged husband, A.J. Discala.

Nick Moves On

Nick Lachey is busy working on his new album, which might be a way for him to keep his mind off of his upcoming divorce from Jessica Simpson. A source close to Lachey tells OK!, "He has been focusing on work the last couple of weeks, and it's a difficult time, but you have to get on with your life and move on, so that's what he's doing." A spokesperson for Lachey's record label confirms, "Nick is in the studio recording, and we are looking forward to a 2006 release."

Lachey told the Cincinnati Enquirer earlier this month that the still-untitled album will lean more towards rock than his 2003 debut pop album, Soul-O. That album sold just over 100,000 copies. By contrast, Simpson's 2003 album, In This Skin, has sold over three million copies, to date.

As far as television, Lachey says that MTV has been filming him "on and off" for a reality show that was supposed to come out in the summer. The re-scheduled premiere date will be based on the date of the album's release. He's also working on a sitcom pilot for the WB that he expects to be completed in the spring.

Cincinatti Enquirer Article

Want to show whose side you're on in the Jessica Simpson-Nick Lachey split? Now you can pledge your allegiance with a T-shirt.
Shortly after the stars of MTV's "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica" announced their separation on Thanksgiving Eve, "Team Lachey" and "Team Simpson" T-shirts went on sale online, no doubt targeting the same celebrity-obsessed crowd that snapped up "Team Pitt" and "Team Aniston" shirts after Brad and Jen's marriage broke up earlier this year.

Kristen Smith, a 22-year-old college student in Vancouver, Wash., says she was first out of the gate with her shirts supporting Lachey, the former 98º frontman who grew up in North College Hill.

She's selling T-shirts, hats, underwear, bumper stickers and mugs through a site on CaféPress.com, which allows anyone to create and sell customized merchandise (www.cafepress.com/teamlachey). Sayings include "Team Lachey," "Future Mrs. Lachey" and "I'll Marry You Nick."

"I guess I just felt really bad for him," the "Newlyweds" fan says. "I thought he seems like a normal guy trying to make things work. And (Simpson) seems kind of spoiled."

Smith says her "Future Mrs. Lachey" shirts are the most popular.

Another T-shirt seller, Nick Lambert, says his Team Lachey shirts are outselling his Team Simpson shirts by about 3-1 (www.cafepress.com/buzz_shirts). Not surprisingly, he says, the women's shirts make up the majority of those sales.

Talked to a reporter today.........

Okay, so I'm pretty excited. Who would have thought that my little site would be mentioned in USA TODAY and The Cincinatti Enquirer (Nick's hometown paper)?!? It's actually finals week for me............plus I'm working..........plus I need to do laundry so my husband won't be stuck wearing the same underwear. Hmmm...........

Oh and she's doing a FULL ARTICLE in the paper in the next few days. More info to come about that.

OUR PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS GO OUT TO YOU NICK!

Hello Everyone

My name is Kristen and I'm the force behind TEAM LACHEY. I'm 22, and married, and just thought it would be cool to give Nick some support in his time of need. Being young and married, I can understand some of the issues he and Jessica have had to deal with (but, alas, I'm not famous, nor do I have to worry about papparazzi, us weekly putting rumors about me in their magazine, etc). I'll be updating if anything cool happens, but in the meantime, THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.
